Methuen was incorporated as a town in 1726. Historic town records were transcribed by historians. These records are now available online. Visit the city’s website historical records page to view the records. The city had a population of 43,789 in the year 2000. The city has an area of 22 square miles. Local colleges include Merrimack College, Northern Essex Community College, and the University of Massachusetts Lowell. It only takes about 35 minutes to get to Salisbury beach about 25 miles away. The city has a civil war memorial without a horse or soldier statue on it. I heard that it may be the only civil war memorial that doesn’t have a soldier on it. Do you know of any others? The city has a unique butterfly shape. It has several different areas and neighborhoods. I like to classify it as West, East, downtown, and the Valley. These are not official names though. The city is similar to other nearby areas with numerous multi-family homes including 2 flat and 3 flats. These multi family homes offer opportunities to invest in income properties. There is also a good selection of apartment rentals and rental communities. Methuen zip code is 01844.
